<불명한 풍경>이 제시하는 탈옥수의 도주 경로를 따라가다 보면, 역사의 림보가 만들어 낸 비공간이 탈주자의 은신처가 되는 아이러니와 마주하게 된다. 분리된 두 개의 화면은 추적자의 시점이 되었다가 도망자의 시점으로 전환되기를 반복하며, 끝내 두 개의 시점은 선명하게 분리될 수 없는 채로 남는다. 탈북과 탈옥, 두 번의 탈주를 감행한 주현건이 헤매었을지도 모르는 광야의 풍경을 바라보며 이름 없는 또 다른 도망자의 얼굴을 상상한다. (강주영)

Review
Following the escape route of the fugitive presented in Hostile Landscapes, we encounter the irony of an abandoned non-space, shaped by history’s limbo, becoming a hiding place. The two separate screens continually shift between the perspective of the pursuer and that of the fugitive, yet in the end, the two viewpoints remain inseparably intertwined. Gazing upon the wilderness that Ju Hyeongeon, known by his Chinese name Zhu Xianjian, might have wandered through while undertaking the double escape of defecting from North Korea and fleeing prison, we imagine the face of another nameless fugitive.
